Building a new module into a Kernel

I have a new raid driver that is functional if I load the module using insmod.

My question is how do I build the module into the kernel so I don't have to use insmod?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, that would work. Only thing is I went do it the other way and had no idea on how to do it so I wanted to learn something new. I have a fix, but the purpose was to find a way to do it as a built-in kernel modules.

Is the kernel you are running set to automatically load modules? it might actually load it on it's own. either that or you can do what the above posters said to do.

You must create a patch for your kernel sources. It requires modifications on Makefiles tree in order to work properly. It is not an easy task, unless you're a very skilled programmer. An easy way is you create an initrd image including such module and boot it.
