Hello, im newbee on linux, this is my first threat also.
I've just installed slackware 12.1 and after reboot nothing happens only a black screen and a blinking cursor at the top-left corner.
Maybe its something with the screen resolution, i remember selected 1024x800 32k colors, if this is the problem, how can i change it without reinstalling?
Hard to answer with no more info, but it sounds like the bootloader did not install to the MBR of your hard drive.
There can be a few reasons for this, can you supply a little more info please, like basic system description, install options you used, how you configured the bootloader, etc.
And if you haven't read it - be sure to start with the Slackware book and the resources on the Slackware web site where you will find install help.
thanks astrogeek!!

Change default runlevel from 3 to 4.
To do so, open /etc/inittab, find line where it is said "id:3:initdefault:" (not on linux right now, actual line can be a bit longer), replace 3 with 4, reboot system.
