Basic Questions

Hi,

I have my linux running perfectly now. I have some questions though.

1. I am trying to find "Samba" in the KDE menu but it seems like it's not there, what should I do?

2. Seems like I need to setup my own user to prevent hacking or something stupid, how could I setup my own regular user?

3. How can I configure so at the computer start the KDM starts (it loads console now, but if KDM or GDM loads I could easily change my Window Manager to Gnome, Fluxbox, etc.)

Those are the questions I have for now, thanks in advance

1. I think it's in the network menu.
2. In a console type adduser as root.
3. I think you can select this in the KDE setup thing that's next to the start button.

For #3, edit your /etc/inittab so you start in runlevel 4 and then in /etc/rc.d, make sure rc.4 is executable and comment out the GDM section if you want to use KDM. If you look at the rc.4 script it tries to start GDM first and uses KDM only if it doesn't find GDM. By commenting out the GDM bit, it will just start wiht KDM.

For #1 just open up the KDE file manager and in the path type "smb:/" without the quotes. That's how I do it anyways (keeps an extra button out of my program bar).
