I would post my xorg.conf file, but I don't know how to copy-paste in terminal using nano or any other text editor (vi?).

I am thinking that I need to recompile my kernel and enable some modules, but this does not really explain how to do it completely.

I already installed the ati driver for my card and ran aticonfig --initial and it patched the xorg.conf file, but I get nothing, like usual.

Sorry, excuse the sarcasm... have you tried the radeon module? It is supplied with X
