I am curious. I found Cinnamon fast, reliable, good-looking, comfortable. In daylight hours I work on Cinnamon - late night on Xfce - Marsala GTK3 theme looks much better on Xfce - and it is excellent theme to work in dark.
OP was asking about officially adding cinnamon to slackware and I would have to say the odds are almost none. Good DE, but zero chance of that happening because KDE5 and updated XFCE will be enough. I'll be very lucky if CDE gets added.
One cannot expect Pat to include every desktop or every application in the official Slackware. I would expect Slackware users to be knowledgeable enough to add stuff themselves. Praise to those who keep 3rd party applications and SBo scripts up to date - e.g. willysr who keeps the msb and csb projects up and running. As a MATE user I'm indebted.
I do like Cinnamon, but I can't see Pat wanting to take on another DE when we already have two that check most of the same boxes (assuming Plasma 5 gets added at some point).
It is not difficult to add Cinnamon to your Slackware. I have done so a few times and Cinnamon is interesting.
There were some good things about it and I used it for awhile. In particular it supported my Wacom pad
at a time when the support in other slackware environments required a great deal of effort.
Wacom support in Plasma5 later improved and I did not take well to Nemo so I gradually faded out of Cinnamon.
