Slackbuilds has a package for Android Studio (for slackware 15.0) but that is the version 3.5 from August 2019. Anyone know how to get a more recent slackware package?
I downloaded 2021.1.1.23 changed the Slackbuild version number. It went fine. Also if you have the Jet Brains toolbox you can install it from there too.

I was able to download the latest Android studio file (android-studio-2021.1.1.23-linux.tar.gz), change its file name to the one on Slackbuilds (android-studio-ide-191.5791312-linux.tar.gz), and then ran the Slacbuilds script. As far as I could tell, it worked, at least I am able to open the software and do basic things. However, the AVD feature does not seem to be working. It just quits with "unable to start AVD". I am not sure if that has something to do with the fact that I artifically change the version number, or if it is due to something else.

I managed to make it work here (Slackware 15.0).
The only issue/problem I had was permissions on /dev/kvm
but once sorted, it runs fine
Make sure you have no error message related to /dev/kvm upon adding a device (virtual in my case)
