aMule 2.3.1: I keep getting "There is an instance of aMule already running".

Hi: I run aMule, a peer to peer GUI application and all's fine. Then I reboot. If I now enter the GUI, I can see aMule nowhere. Then I call it again. However, nothing happens. Looking into text console 6, where I started X (startx), I see the following messages:
Code:
 2014-12-18 21:56:25: Initialising aMule 2.3.1 compiled with wxGTK2 v2.8.12
2014-12-18 21:56:25: Checking if there is an instance already running...
!2014-12-18 21:56:25: There is an instance of aMule already running
 2014-12-18 21:56:25: (lock file: /home/bill/.aMule/muleLock)
2014-12-18 21:56:25: Raising current running instance.
How can I make the aMule window visible?

If you can't see eMule in the process list, it's not running. Have you tried deleting the (presumably stale) lock file?

I deleted it, invoked aMule, and the aMule window appeared! What a simple solution!
