ALSA won't work since upgrade

A few months ago I updated my system using Swaret and I updated my Slack 10 system and installed a newer version of ALSA. Since then, ALSA does not work. I know this was a topic in this forum before. I tried searching for help but none of the hits addressed this problem.

At present, my system is Slack-Current with KDE 3.4

Any help would be great!

What kernel are you using? ALSA needs specific kernel modules. If you're stick with the default kernel in -current (2.4.29), you will also have to use the 2.4.29 ALSA modules, which are found in the slackware/l directory of Slackware 10.1. The package you'll need then is alsa-driver-1.0.8_2.4.29-i486-1.tgz.
I'm not sure if swaret upgrades this at all, but please check if you've got this package installed (if swaret works right, it should be listed in /var/log/packages).
Reply what you've found :-)

You may also just need to run alsa-config (or whatever it's called). Sometimes alsa's configs get wiped (this is manually - I assume it's even more likely with swaret). Apologies if you've already done this but saying it 'doesn't work' leaves a lot of room for interpretation.

When I tried ALSA config it tried searching for my sound card it went through a lot of files (modules) and I believe it said file not found with every search. So, I don't know what's going on. BTW, I am running Kernel 2.4.26
