ALSA problem in mplayer?

I repeatedly get this message when playing a movie in mplayer
Code:
ALSA lib control.c:739:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL mixer 0 0 0%
alsa-control: mixer attach mixer error: No such file or directory
The movie plays with sound too although a bit choppy because of that message...
anyone have any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, installed the new alsa drivers (1.0.9rc2) but it did not fix my problem.
Could it have something to do with the configuration of mplayer?
