You can't delete it because it's the system-wide template for all users... but you can make any other profile the default:
Go into Settings -> Manage profiles, then highlight the one you want, then click "Set as Default".
I have already done that, so I think the "system wide" profile is just borked either way, because other than creating another profile and appending -l again to /bin/bash, I didn't do anything different. Still this is way better than jumping through the hoops others suggested.. I mean yea I am sure they work too , but this was the easiest and still no reply for the KDE forums side. Would be nice to be able to just edit the current profile and append -l like previous Plasma5 versions - but I suspect there is a bug obviously, where? I don't know, I am not a developer - but I am at least now satisfied with the solution as it is the easiest.
After one of the latest current updates I get this error when running xdg-open:
Code:
dw3
kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/desktop.so'"
kf.coreaddons: no metadata found in "/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so" "Failed to extract plugin meta data from '/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/applications.so'"
kf.kio.core: couldn't create slave: "klauncher said: Klarte ikke finne programtillegget «/usr/lib64/qt5/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so».\n"
xdg-open works if running "dbus-launch xdg-open". Something to fix here?
Why I have 4 is beyond me. I'm not sure if I have ever messed with profile settings before. Maybe I did and just don't remember. Later, I may go back and delete the first three and see what happens.....
KDE Plasma 5.23 Schedule
KDE Plasma releases on Oct 7, 2021. Here’s the overall schedule:
Beta – Sep 16, 2021
Final Release – Oct 7, 2021
But I hope it gets included in Slackware 15.0.
(Actually, I'd like it if Pat kept upgrading Plasma, KF5 and Gear but that's a topic for another discussion. If not, when 15.0 comes out I'll either use a 3rd party repo, keep on -current or compile it myself).
We probably have a 2nd freeze (RC2) shortly after the 5.22.5
For me, that means no 5.23
If not, we have to wait the full bunch of patchs —> 5.23.5
I think that we will get the Plasma 5.22.5 on Slackware 15.0 because is hard to believe that our BDFL will wait several months for Plasma 5.23.x to mature.
Being on RC1 means that the release is imminent - maybe in one month or sooner.

Why do you guys think it'll be several months/wait till 5.23.5? (honest question, I'm curious about the development process since I wasn't around on LQ for past releases).
Usually, Plasma 5.x.1 comes a week after 5.x.0, that should give us the majority of fixes quickly and the next 5.x.[2-5] should be safe upgrades.
Or is the plan to stick with whatever version for the lifetime of Slack 15.0 when it's released?
In that case I can see Pat wanting to stick to 5.22.5.
Version Weeks after previous version
.1 1 week after .0
.2 1 week after .1
.3 2 weeks after .2
.4 3 weeks after .3
.5 5 weeks after .4
.6 (LTS-only) 8 weeks after .5
.7 (LTS-only) 13 weeks after .6
