Hey i'm playing with plasma5 and noticed that my gtk applications do not show the global menu on the panel widget.
judging by the console errors i think i'm missing something providing the appmenu-gtk-module.

I know ubuntu, debian et others provide an appmenu-gtk package, but there's none in the slackbuilds repo.

In the past i used vala-panel-appmenu to get a global menu in xfce and that worked with both qt and gtk applications.

Anyway what are you guys using to get global menu for gtk apps?

@AlienBOB

Mr. Hameleers, please help me with rebuilding kaudiocreator !

I've (re)built the entire Plasma5 stack, with Plasma 5.20.2, Applications 20.08.2 and Frameworks 5.75, also uprading to OpenCV 4.1.2, KDevelop 5.6.0 and some other small changes.

However, I fail to rebuild this KAudiocreator, which is the last package which not compile - gives an error regarding KCcdb and I suspect an incompatibility with libkcddb-20.08.2.

I known that kaudiocreator is abandoware, but please take a look at it and maybe you can suggest a patch.

This caught my attention:

Code:
Thu Oct 29 21:55:56 UTC 2020
[...]
l/poppler-20.10.0-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
       Shared library .so-version bump.
       Qt4 support dropped.
Others may think different but I believe this is quite interesting and significant.

That's precisely why I think this is significant. Since Slackware used Qt4, poppler was held at a very old version. Moving on to a newer version and dropping Qt4 support signals IMHO an imminent drop of KDE4 and, more hopefully, a move into Plasma 5.

Sorry but I refuse to provide any kind of support other than security fixes to KDE Plasma5 for as long as Patrick does not add Plasma5 to Slackware.

Heck, at least to switch to elogind, and it will be still be very nice.

I do not know others, but I was bitten at least three times by Polkit vs. Polkit...

So, in your humble opinion, what is holding Patrick back on this specific choice?

In my experience, Plasma5 in the form of current KTown, is substantially more solid than KDE4 was when Patrick adopted it. Am I missing some "gotcha"?

Well, even you asked punctually Mr. Hameleers, I would like to inform you that asking a friend of mine who have a good experience in building packages for RHEL/CentOS/Fedora to take a look at this kaudiocreator vs. latest KDE software, he said that it is not compatible anymore with Applications 20.08.2 and will be needed serious changes on the source code to make it work again. Then, he recommended to abandon the idea to eventually patch kaudiocreator.

How, as you know already, looks like this kaudiocreator development is abandoned since years, and I do not think that it is capable to offer more than K3B which is also capable to rip audio-CDs with CDDB support since long time, my suggestion is just to drop it, if you do not have a special preference for it.

I think that is the best option.
You could look into soundkonverter (https://github.com/dfaust/soundkonverter/wiki) if you need a replacement for kaudiocreator which is actively developed.

x/x11-skel-7.7-x86_64-5.txz: Rebuilt.
xwmconfig: change blurb from "K Desktop Environment" to "KDE Plasma Desktop".

Is that a hint?
