on two different machines I have slackware 15 stable 64, KDE on Xorg. Both have same issue since fresh install from Slackware Live: checkered artifacts on browsers* (see attachement).
Pls
- I searched the forum with little results, what search terms should I use?
- what commands to list video settings necesary for troubleshooting?
Thanks in advance.
edit: *in fact only Falkon is afected. therefore this and next post is at least off-topic if not spam. Sorry!

Reason: misleading information due to lack of testing

And what if you use a real browser, like Firefox ?
And what if you use a real browser, like Firefox ?
yeap, you are right: the problem only affects Falkon, doesn't affect Firefox. Sorry!
Anyway, that's the least of my problems right now since I'm only (barely) able to reach linuxquestions from one computer, the other one stuck on "verify that you're human".
PS
1. by the way, is this normal - laptop on wifi manages to access linuxquestions.org but the desktop wired into the (same) router can't?
aaa... I feel I am rapidly approaching "Really, IT security expert? Oh, nice! What computer should I buy? My neighbour has a pink one, what do you think?" :|) so... never mind me )
2. Still not sold in to the "a real browser, like Firefox". For me "default search engine= google" means "consider this software by default as spyware". Maybe it's only an illusion but Falkon (with whom I have 0 affiliation and/or knowledge about) seems "nibbler" - whatever that means in software. And I barely use bookmarks, let alone any other features browsers might have these days. So, other that the one with the rendering(?) issue - I have no complaints so far.

kde/kstars-3.7.1-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
Have a weirdness of note. For some reason my kde install did not have kstars, and did not install the new one with slackpkg upgarde-all.
I did a slackpkg install kstars-3.7.1-x86_64-1, and it installed and worked fine, but why wasn't the previous version already there in my -current. Makes me wonder what other nifty kde apps are out there that I don't have. About the only thing I did weird is that my -current install was done via the option in the live iso for -current, and not via the older (looking) text console only setup package.
Has kstars always been included with this -current branch? If it has, is there a script or process I can execute that will compare what is on my system versus what is included in the -current branch as of now?
FWIW, -current has been running flawlessly for me for the past month since I setup a new system with it.
