While I probably won't be upgrading this until after I make the full switch to Slackware 15, I very much appreciate all of Eric's hard work on VLC.
I currently run VLC 3.0.10 on Slackware 14.2, built using Eric's SlackBuild script, and it works beautifully. With all its complexity, VLC is one case where I doubt that I'd have had the patience to work out the build script for myself.
Thanks again, and keep up the good work!

vlc: updated to 3.0.17.4 for Slackware 15.0 and -current.
Updated internal libraries: ass, bluray, dav1d, dsm, dvdread,
ffmpeg (to 4.4), fribidi, srt, twolame and x265.
Usual caveat: versions that can not only DEcode but also ENcode AAC
audio, and can play encrypted DVD's without the need for a separate
libdvdcss package, can be found in my alternative repository where I keep
the packages containing code that might violate stupid US software patents: https://slackware.nl/people/alien/re...ackbuilds/vlc/
This is not me tooting my own horn, but I just want to point out that I sent Eric a donation a few days ago and kindly asked if when he got time if he would update his VLC package. Lo and behold a few days later and here it is. Just gently reminding all Slackers that if you like Alien Bob's work (Slackware LIVE, VLC, handbrake, libreoffice, etc) throw the man a small donation now and again. His work on Slackware is invaluable.

Thanks. I've sent two small donations over the last year. Not much maybe 20 bucks all together. It's not much but I'm making less now than I was 20 years ago. If everybody reading this sent in 1 dollar or even 5 it would add up.
