Advice needed concerning Counter-Strike

Okay. I need to get my game on, but I refuse to boot into Windows. EVER. I want to install Half-Life, then Counter-Strike, then some sweet Natural Selection. Now, I have some doubts about my setup. I am running Slackware 9 on an K6-2 400 with 128 MB ram. I have a TNT2 with 32 MB ram. I know that I can not run Unreal Tournament, it just chokes and dies =( ..
I need some recommendations. Is there a way that I don't have to use wine/wine x to to run HL/CS/NS? Is my hardware good enough? Do I get to recompile my entire system from source just to play a game?

Also, how can I pump some more speed out of my system? I have recompile the kernel with the architecture set to k6.. What else can I do?

Thanks in advance

Well, Id say your system isn't gonna be very good for playing Halflife/CS through wine. Generally, your system should be 1.5x as powerful as you were using w/ native speed.

Theres not much you can do. Slackware comes pretty stripped down. Remove any uncessary startup services, kernel modules, etc.

Well, I got my game on! I said the heck with new games, Unreal Tournament is the way to go! I overclock my tnt2 whenever I play it to 160Mhz core and 175Mhz memory. went from 290FPS in glxgears to 360 FPS. I enabled hardware acceleration of the RENDER extension as well. UT finally works nice I am very pleased with myself.
