I am having problem getting my sound card configured. Its Realtec ALC850 integrated card on a A8V motherboard. I am running Slackware 10. I just installed kernel 2.6.7. I think i have to patch the kernel with the latest alsa drivers but i have no clue how to install a ".patch" file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Its a 8 channel audio card with spdif out. Getting all 8 channels working on this card isnt that important nor the spdif out cause i only have a 2.1 speaker setup on this machine.

assuming you symlinked your source directory to /usr/src/linux
cd /usr/src/linux
patch -p1 < yourpatch

Dont know if theres anything else i need, but everytime i issue the patch command it does nothing. It just freezes at without any print. Am I doing something wrong or do i need some other app?
