A probably dumb fluxbox question

I was running Mepis, and it was great for the first couple of days, and then permissions kept resetting themselves to root all over the system. No matter what I did, I'd set the permissions to everyone as root, log out, login, and it was root-only again.

Ahem... anyway, while I was running Mepis, I installed fluxbox. To my surprise, when I logged in using it, my menu was pre-configured with all the programs I had installed on the system. That was not my experience when I installed fluxbox on RH 9 using yum; I had to edit the menu config files and everything else, which was pretty tedious.

My question is (finally), which way would fluxbox be when installed on Slack 9? Would I have to comb through and edit all the fluxbox config files before I could use anything but links without using the terminal to activate it?

I'm pretty fond of fluxbox, and I'm betting someone here has installed it on Slackware, so I thought this was probably the best place to ask.

Thanks in advance.

If you compile it form source it will load some apps into the menu but not all, I don't know about installing it from a slackpack because I've never done it that way. There is an app on the fluxbox homepage that you can use to automatically build the menu, or else you just edit ~/.fluxbox/menu by hand (it's really simple).

Thanks! I Didn't know about the menu builder app. On RH 9 there three config files to edit, and that was *very* annoying.
