9.1 and WPC11 - Do I need to do anything other than pop the thing in?

Alright, so I have a fresh install of 9.1, I pop the card in, everything's fine. I conntect to my network (with no encryption and SSID broadcasting on). No problem, now when I turn on WEP and turn broadcasting off, the connection dies and everything goes to hell.

Do I need to do / install anything? I've edited /etc/pcmcia/wireless.opts to match the settings for everything, but it still isn't working.

thanks a lot,
Mike

I can help out some perhaps...

I, too, have wireless set up at home. I have not enabled WEP, but I did turn broadcasting off. When you do that, you need to set the essid and key manually.

To set the essid, use

iwconfig eth1 essid essidname (where essidname is the name of your SSID)

To set the key, I believe (but am not positively sure), use

iwconfig eth1 key keyvalue (where keyvalue is the value of your encryption key)

Obviously, switch out eth1 with the name of the network device to which it applies (e.g., eth0, etc.)

Once you've done that, if you haven't already started the DHCP daemon, use

dhcpcd eth1 (or whatever network device you have)

Hope that helps.
