It is an onboard soundchip 8738
Followed instrusction for the drivers, enabling 4 channel in the kernel config, etc. Still no 4 channel sound.

What distro are you running. And I don't know that I would use kernel drivers for sound or video, because often those drivers are outdated, and will not give you full performance/functionality.

I did a little bit of research and it looks like your mobo uses the C-Media 8738 chip which seems to be a very popular sound chip used on many boards.

What I would suggest is to go with an external driver solution. You can either use the ALSA driver for your card or the OSS driver.
www.alsa-project.org
www.opensound.com

Both provide their own driver for the C-Media 8738 chip.

These are the guides:
http://alsa-project.org/alsa-doc/doc...&module=cmipci
http://www.opensound.com/install_gzipped.html

I can't promise you will get 4 channel surround with that card. So far I've only had luck getting 4 channel surround with sound blaster live, audigy, and audigy 2.
