Then any of the Manufacturers mentioned here can work.
I won't be much help with recent makes and models because I am still running a 20-year old Hp LaserJet 4200 and my wife is still using a USB Hp LaserJet 1320
Google returns lots of sites listing recent linux compatible printers.
Do your shopping and then check the printer database and make a choice.
These days, Linux Printing can be as simple as buy it, plug it in, set it up via https://localhost:631 and print.

I have almost the exact same setup. I am currently using a Laserjet 1300. But also have a Laserjet 4250n that is currently offline because I need to install a new maintenance kit. I also have two of these at work and can confirm they work perfectly with Slackware lol. https://www.printersandpresses.com/r...100ex-printer/
I have an Brother HL-2035, it has linux support with its proprietary driver, but they provide a 32-bit part of the driver that needs 32 bit libraries. On slackware 14.2 it works well but you have to set up a multi-lib config (not a issue thanks to slackpkg and its plugin slackpkg+).
This specific model work well with single face printing. It support also manual duplex o course, but sometimes paper gets stuck... Next time I will buy a printer model with auto duplex.
I also bought a brother MFC-2710 (if I well remember the code model) for an office with a Win7 PC. It has auto-duplex and it works pretty well, also with non-original cartridges works well. I think it supports also linux but I didn't try...
You don't need full multilib for these drivers, just 32-bit glibc. You can go multilib to install it, then go back to pure 64-bit afterwards. That's what I did and it never caused me any problems.
I have not made my choice yet, but I've got an overall picture of what I'm looking for.
The actual purchase will happen late May, or early June, and it will depend on the
availability of printer models in stores at that period of time.
I will most likely buy the HP laser printer.
Update (5/26/2022):
I've consulted with a technician, who maintains printers and other office peripherals at the company where I work.
He said that new HP peripherals have a terrible quality and that HP's quality severely declined over the years.
He recommended Lexmark and also said that I would benefit from purchasing a multi-function device (fax + photocopier + printer + scanner) instead of just printer.
He said Lexmark MB2338adw has a great printing quality, but the issue is that if the cartridge is empty, the thing will refuse to work at all, for example will refuse to scan paper documents.
Another problem is that the technician has no experience with GNU/Linux and only worked with MS Windows.
Do you have any experience using Lexmark printers with Slackware (or other GNU/Linux distros)?
Should I purchase a multi-function device instead of just the printer?
Will the multi-function device work well with Slackware 14.2?
Thanks!
EDIT:
There are also Chinese Pantum printers, the manufacturer has Ubuntu driver on the official site.
Have you used one of those?

Reason: additional info
I'm not surprised at all at what your friend said about HP. A company usually goes downhill after it discovers that exploiting its customers is more profitable than serving them. The rot started at HP when they put microchips into their ink cartridges without which the printers refused to work. So you couldn't buy low-cost generic cartridges for these printers; you had to shell out on the official HP ones which cost twice as much. When the US government prohibited that as a restraint of trade, they made it more subtle so that it was impossible to prove anything. The printers would work a few times with a new generic cartridge and then go on strike reporting a cartridge fault. And if you complained, HP said "Well, it was probably a faulty cartridge. What do you expect when you buy cheap refills?"
After I got caught that way and found a lot of other examples in forums, I decided never to buy HP again.
I have purchased Lexmark MB2338adw and it works fine. Thanks everyone, thanks kjhambrick!
For anyone reading this in the future:
1) Lexmark MB2338adw will not work at all if the cartridge is empty, not even scan the documents.
2) Cartridges are hard to purchase in some regions.
I have warned you.
