Pick a Linux distro, install it, and use it to get things done.

I'd recommend a mainstream distro and I'd also recommend avoiding the Gnome desktop, but that's a matter of (my) taste.

Going Linux, both the website and podcast, is an excellent resource. I've listened to every one of their podcasts over the years.

A web search for "linux tutorials" will turn up a number of other resources.
