Another thx to those in this thread.
The firmware was needed to get the audio working on an "HP Spectre x360 2020 15t-eb000".

I still need to hobble it to work w/ the following commands on system boot, sleep, or hibernate:
Code:
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x01 SET_GPIO_DIR 0x01
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x01 SET_GPIO_MASK 0x01
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x01 SET_GPIO_DATA 0x01
hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC1D0 0x01 SET_GPIO_DATA 0x00
The following links were good references for my use case:

Updated slackbuild?

Hi richarson.

Im not sure but I think maybe you provided me link to the slackbuild on irc a while back.

I just installed slackware -current on a HP Elitebook 840 G7

And I only found a old version of the slackbuild on your github site.

It fails to run because of it finding already a file when trying to create a symlink.

So not sure if you have a more recent updated sof slackbuild that I can try?

Regards Roar

The structure of the files changed a lot and I couldn't make a proper package anymore with my SlackBuild.

Currently I'm using the package from Arch Linux (https://archlinux.pkgs.org/rolling/a...g.tar.zst.html) extracted and copied by hand.

Ok. So thats why I couldnt get the slackbuild to work.

Do you mind just giving a quick guide on how you install it?

So you extract the tar file and copy the files by hand to the directories?

Regards Roar

I just grab the tar file from the original source (https://github.com/thesofproject/sof-bin/releases). Then copy the sof-vXX and sof-tplg-vXX directories to /lib/firmware/intel, and symlink them to sof and sof-tplg (all in /lib/firmware/intel).

I'm currently on v1.8. Haven't tried v1.9 yet, but the tar file looks the same at a quick glance.

Thank you so much

Thank you so much for your help.

It worked with v1.9 also using your explanation.

So its pretty easy.

Would be nice with a slackbuild for this but just copying two folders and making a symlink its so easy and easy to remove as well so shouldn`t be necessary.

Great community <3
