Debian 9 / Tomcat still controlled via init script

Hi,

I wonder why on Debian 9 the default installation of Apache Tomcat still uses an init script rather than a systemd unit.

I've found many similar solutions for the unit way on the Internet already years ago.

What's could be the reason that Debian still prefer the traditional way for Tomcat service scripts?

is there a problem that makes answering this question important?

as long as debian still ships with some sysvinit/systemd compatibility mechanism, why waste grey cells on it?
i'm sure they'll change it when there's an actual requirement to do so, at some point in the future.

Important... hm,.. beside community forking because of systemd and that it already was the default init system in the last major version of Debian. Yes! I would expect that the maintainers go straight forward with it and port all old scripts to units to substantiate their descision.

But maybe there's really a technical reason why they didn't it until now what leads us to my inital question. So if you know something crucial I would be delighted. If not, please don't feed this thread.
