There are many differences, but the majority are version updates and improvements. System services and controls differ greatly, as RHEL7 is SystemD based while all earlier versions used the more stable SysV style init systems. Default file systems have been updated to use XFS over EXT4 or BTRFS. Some of the differences are critical to System Administrators, but almost totally transparent to normal users.

Most of the software is pretty much slightly obsolete (very stable) GNU standard with RH backports of newer features where there is value to RH and RH customers. Can you specify what KINDS of commands you might use that could be discussed?

Red Hat put out a "cheat sheet" to show the difference of commands between RHEL5, RHEL6 and RHEL7. This may give you an idea of the differences between the OS'es.
