Which SHOULD just remove the user named pi, the default user on rasbian, as well as his home directory. But instead I have this error pop up
Code:
userdel: user pi is currently used by process 615
after using this to determine the process
Code:
ps -p 615 -o comm=
it said it was named Bash and other occasions it has said (with different numbers) SystemD

Did you exit and logout as user pi before trying to delete pi?

Alternately, instead of deleting pi, couldn't you just rename it?
Code:
usermod -l newname pi

captain hindsight to the rescue:
i think you should've just removed that option completely.

please give us a link to the exact image you installed.
raspbian is just a common name for all sorts of distros tailored to specific (ARM) hardware.
mine used a graphical desktop, but no display manager; that might be part of the confusion you're experiencing.
