I'd support this idea so discussions are contained and moved from unrelated subforums, even if only to avoid cluttering the general forum.
A lot of them bots are still parasitic, i.e. it's not yet worth our time feeding them any valuable input other than what they output, so I'm not really into those discussions.
Maybe next year. But if there would be a bot fight, like a slop flinging contest of some sort I'd probably want to see it for fun.

"Containment boards" are a bad idea. They attract people who are interested in that topic and nothing else.

For those of you in favor of a dedicated forum, I'm curious to understand more about the gap you're looking to fill and how you'd use the forum. ie. if the topic is agentic coding, why not Programming, or if it's hardware related why not Linux - Hardware?

Could a compromise be something like "anything new you learned or did with AI? I am fascinated and cautious at the same time. At work this week I got Claude to dig into some binary files I was converting to see whether the changes matched the criteria for the change.It provided python scripts so I can carry on testing my changes. (bonus, I get to dig into a language which is not familiar)

Looking at Gemini for the past few days:

• libreoffice calc comparison
• question about my lawnmower (off topic but this is a usage)
• recovering M4A files with photorec
• ssh server for an android TV

I am interested in the usage people get out of AI. And bad real life experiences are also welcome

For me , it's mostly about the aggregation of 'ai' implementation/knowlege into a central repository. I, for one, am not worried about 'post count' so a sub-forum in 'General' would be fine, or perhaps in Programming for those concerned with stats.
