Forum for Artificial Intelligence
I have been using Linux since around the year 2000 and have recently gotten into the never ending bottomless pit that is the development of A.I. technologies, such as Ollama, LLMs, RAGs, Neural Networks and things of that nature.
Since A.I. technologies are quickly becoming a dominate topic within society for things such as optical recognition, deep fakes, super-resolution, stable diffusion, RAGs, A.I. Webbots, ect ... I was wondering if linuxquestions.org, would consider an "Artificial Intelligence" Forum?
Allowing those who are attempting to program, setup, train, and use Artificial Intelligence within their Linux systems to discuss matters that are A.I. related.

Did you try to check if there was already such a thread? For example like this:
https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...et-4175753623/
And if you were really interested, you could find even more.

I don't think it makes any sense to have a special forum for AI on a site dedicated to Linux. The logic of AI and what you can and can't use it for has nothing to do with what kind of OS you use underneath. At present, questions and observations on AI go into General and that's where they belong imho.

pan64 the thread you shared is not even close to the same thing as my topic, neither are any of the other threads on A.I. onebuck is sharing his personal experience with A.I., while I am participating by offering LQ Suggestions & Feedback, asking about creating a forum for AI related topics in linuxquestions.org.
Please show me a thread where someone else is offering LQ Suggestions & Feedback asking about creating a linuxquestions.org forum for Artificial Intelligence related to Linux?
Maybe I was mistaken, but, I thought this forum was about LQ Suggestions & Feedback.

On the contrary, the logic and development of AI has and can be related to both the Hardware and Software of an Operating System.
For example, I just finished writing an entire RAG pipeline, primarily in bash, aided by a small 20.7KB program I wrote in C called chunks. The RAG uses NO python at all, as all the tasks are handled in bash and curl access to ollama.
Why should I share that information under "General Topics" when the entire endeavor is all about using both bash in Linux and curl to access the ollama LLMs (A.I.)?
Why not share the totality of my bash RAG pipeline in a forum called Linux - Artificial Intelligence, for topics related to the logic and development of AI on Linux.

I'm not asking a programming question. My question is about creating a forum on this linuxquestions.org website about a forum topic related to Linux and AI.

Intelligent and non-hyped discussion of solving problems with appropriate and ethical use of machine learning has potential to be interesting - but I don't see that happening here.
And yet, I would still be very much in favour of a dedicated forum.
Why? Because there's a lot of utter drivel in General focused on bullshit-generating chatbots, and if that was collected into a single forum it would be so much easier to ignore.

So am I. While some still have questions regarding the morality of using what they consider 'stolen' material, a viewpoint I don't share but respect their right to have, a dedicated forum would be a viable tool for members and visitors alike. I started using and posting about ai here almost 3 years ago. No one can deny that ai usage has grown leaps and bounds and is a fait accompli in today's reality.

I don't see the point of creating a dedicated AI forum, just as I don't see the point of having a dedicated music or car forum here.
To apply your logic elsewhere:
"Since music technologies are quickly becoming a dominant topic within society for games, movies, and videos, should we allow those attempting to create, run, and use music within Linux to have a dedicated music forum?"
My take is that this is a Linux forum. General AI development and theory should belong on dedicated AI sites. If someone has a specific technical issue getting an AI tool to run on Linux, they can already use the General or Software forums. Obviously not my call though.

I would be against it. We have a general section where you can talk about anything other than politics. AI threads belong there. I agree that we should have them in the forum; this is a technology that is going to have dramatic economic and social effects. But all the dedicated sections of the forum are supposed to be about Linux. I think a whole section on a non-Linux topic would be against the spirit of the forum.

How about a megathread in the General forum?
That way members who like repeating the same dribble about AI can dribble to their hearts content and it would make it much easier to ignore it.

Lol, your point being? I consider the topic both relevant and even more timely than it was 9 months ago.

It would need moderating by someone - do we actually have someone knowledgeable enough to fill the role?
I'm not against, but not sure LQ is the right place - AI is increasingly being used for good purposes, as well as bad, or even criminal useage - but in general, is not Linux specific.
