Will Yum Upgrade My Release

I was told I need to build / configure a RHEL 5.1 server. I did so using the old ISO I downloaded from Red Hat's site. My question is if I do a 'yum upgrade' command, will that then change my release date from 5.1 to 5.5?

Thanks for any info.

yes. RHEL updates are linear and there is only one path.

If you must stay with 5.1, I think there is possibility to tweak yum *.repo files to look at ".../5.1/..." instead of ".../5/..." inside http links, so you can sidetrack your system to a dead-end 5.1. version.

If I run 'yum update' and not 'yum upgrade' it appears to leave me on version 5.1.

**disregard this incorrect statement**
