When starting of linux RD 9 my display turn off

Dears,
When I start my PC (linux Red Hat 9) everything is OK just until it's time to enter in the graphic interface ... I don't know if there're problems with X-windows ... I don't know what to do.
The system start but the display turn off. So, I can't do anything.
This PC is a server ... That happened some days ago ... We accessed all the resources and services from other PCs in the network, but yesterday I had to change the network card ... and I need to configure it ... but without monitor working I can't do anything.
Somebody could help me, please.
Thanks a lot in advance

Try pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and you should get a console window. Shut down the display manager (after logging in as root) using (I think) "/etc/rc.d/init.d/dm stop". This in the command in Mandrake and I think RedHat uses the same/similar init system. Then run startx as root. If/when this gives you a blank screen Ctrl+Alt+F1 will get you back to the console and show you any error messages. If you post the output of the startx command here then it may be possible to identify where the problem lies. I can guess that "No Screens Found" is the problem and this would indicate an error in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. If you post the contents of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and the output of the lspci command as well then it should be possible to determine what the problem is.

I can't shut down display manager in lunix RH9

Thanks a lot, nhs. I could get the console windows with ctrl+alt+F1, but I couldn't find the dm command (/etc/rc.d/init.d/dm) that you suggested.
Somebody knows the command to shut down the display manager?
How could I reconfigure the x windows?

Try "init 3". This should also work. Once you're done then "init 5" should restart the display manager.
