User permissions

Hi,

I would like one of the Linux users(user

racle) to have permission to make and delete directories. How can i achieve this?

To make and delete directories where? And why? Do you want them to be able to make directories but not files? Do you want them to be able to delete all directories or just ones they made? Should they be able to put files in the directories? Should they be able to remove non-empty direcoties?

I figured and fixed my problem. I needed to use chown to change the owner of certain directories instead of changing/giving permissions to a user.

Oracle needs certain directories owned by oracle user while trying to create a database. Unfortunately, i created these directories as root. I should have explained the problem in detail early on! Thanks!
