usb serial port persimission denied

Hello,

I have two problems to the USB serial port /dev/usb/USB0 in RH9.0. One is the port does not access key press, it display messages, but when I press the keys, no response at all. How can resolve this probem?

Also, I can only use the root to access USB0, how can I change the permission to allow to access it by user?

Device /dev/usb/ttyUSB0 lock failed: Permission denied.

Thank you.

Jim

What sort of keypress should it respond to?

Secondly, you could chmod it like 'chmod 666 /dev/usb/USB0'.

Thanks for your response. The key presses like <Enter> or normal keys from the keyboad. It was connected to a debug device port. In a serial port, every key I typed in keyboard, it displayed on minicom terminal, but on USB port, no response to any keys.

I did "chmod 666 /dev/usb/USB0", I even chaned the owner for USB0, but it is still permission denied for the user access. What am I missing here?

Thank you.

Jim
