There's some info at http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-5.5-doc/apr.html, but unless you're having problems I wouldn't be too worried.

I installed APR, but when I start tomcat6 got errors like:
Jul 30, 2007 4:35:00 PM org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener init
SEVERE: An incompatible version 1.1.6 of the Apache Tomcat Native library is installed, while Tomcat requires version 1.1.8

I have both 1.1.6 and 1.1.8 in /usr/local/apr/lib, but even I moved out 1.1.6 from /usr/local/apr/lib, it still have the same error.

how can I direct tomcat6 to the right apr version?
thanks!
