swap question: using 8e filesystem for swap

Hopefully someone can answer a couple questions I have about swap in RHEL 4.7.

I have a server that needed the swap space increased, and i noticed that the filesystem the swap was running on was 8e instead of 82 which is linux swap. I recreated the swap using the 82 and added it back to the volume group. Everything works just as it did before.

My question is does it matter if it is 8e or 82? Will it hurt to have a linux swap filesystem in a VG?

thanks in advance!

8e is designated as a Linux Logical Volume Manager partition.
I guess, it's OK to use it as swap, the How-to here just warns that you should set the Use flag to "swap area".

If you created a logical volume for swap, then don't forget to set this Use as option to swap area!
