starting apache2 on RH9

i went into service configuration(as root) to start httpd, which wasn't checked, & i got this error:
httpd failed. The error was: Starting httpd: [FAILED]

i know it's installed because i cant alter the http server settings. what's wrong?

From the console run: service httpd start

And report back on what happened.

sorry, thought things would have been more descriptive than that. Well now you must search out apache's logs and see what they say.
