guys, i think i have typical problem
i have a linux box with kernal 2.4.02, i use this box as mail server with exim and mysql for database. the proble of late i am getting the below error :
Content-type: text/html
Software error:
can't create session file at /var/www/cgi-bin/webmail/index.cgi line 152.
For help, please send mail to the webmaster (root@localhost), giving this error message and the time and date of the error
well that's a cgi webmail application, nothing at all to do with exim or mysql... why would you think it is?? Both Horde and Squirrelmail are php, not cgi, so i can't guess what app that might be... but i'm guessing you installed it...
u r right chris its a webased application. the script is written in perl and customized but the backend is exim software and id's and etc.. r stored in mysql database.
are you not understand somethign here.... you've not told us what this "mail server" IS! you do not log into a mailserver at all. you may log into a php base webmail client running up on a server that is also functioning as an smtp and imap server, but the way you are asking about this you do not "log in" to the mailserver. you are presumably logging into this cgi application, and as above... you've not said what it is...! how can we help you with somethign you won't tell us about? a "session file" could be anywhere, depending on how the application or language framework within which it is running controls session creation and termination.
