RHEL5 post install boot problems

I was able to go through the install without a hitch but the reboot after install won't go past udev starting (udev says it started but maybe it's really causing the problem?). I've tried sending noapic nolapic to the kernel via grub (which I did for the installer) but this hasn't helped. I tried pushing "I" for the interactive setup but it doesn't seem to ever go to that mode so I haven't been able to start services one at a time.

Any help would be appreciated. I've gone through the RH knowledgebase but haven't found this issue. I also haven't been able to find the boot sequence for RHEL5 so I don't have a clue what is trying to start after udev. I'm just not familiar enough with troubleshooting boot issues like this to go any further on my own.

Hardware: SuperMicro server w/dual P3 1Ghz, 1.25GB RAM and Promise UltraATA133 controller with two IDE 160GB drives setup with RAID1 volumes.

Thanks!

RG

I would pass the following one at a time of all together. This one first by itself.
noprobe

then the following depending on hardware.

nopcmcia
noacpi
noapm
nousb
nofirewire

I had to use the following long time ago on a notebook to get it up to update the needed files.
noprobe nousb nofirewire
