RHCE EXAM , iptables question, firewall on or off?
Hi there.
I am going to take RHCE exam, after 2 days.
But today my Teacher confused me.
He told me to disable firewall(i.e iptables) during the exam. and at the same time he wants me to configure iptables for various services on the exam day.
Now i don't know what is the point of configuring iptables when we are not going to use it.
Can you guys please guide me?
yes, i asked him about it but it didnt give me a convincing answer.
are we supposed to keep our iptables on/off during the exam?

thank you.
You are supposed to do what the teacher tells you. You don't say where this exam is held, or who's holding it. Different exam centers/teachers=different rules.

I am taking the Exam in india. REDHAT will be holding it.
Now during the exam redhat guys mention that say, mydomain.com should have access to certain services and, say, otherdomain.com must not be given access to the services running on my system.
And one more question, Do i Have to mention the Reject rule for "otherdomain.com" if I mention the Accept rule in the iptables for "mydomain.com", keeping in view what REDHAT mentions in the exam?
Or the Accept rule will suffice?
If you have "reject all" rule, then allow rule for "mydomain.com" should suffice. But if you have "accept all" rule, then you need reject rule for "otherdomain.com".
Take notice that you can not use domain name in iptables rules, iptables only recognizes IP addresses.
