Smile RH9 installation, endless/freeze after driver disk prompt

i'm using a atapi cd-rw 52max

when installing RH9, i am asked if i have a driver disk. i dont, and i dont know which driver it wants. if i answer no, it gives me a blue screen that i'm pretty sure lasts forever.

the linux disks i'm installing from are copied, so my guess would be that there is a problem with the first one.

RH9's installer comes with a utility to inspect the integrity of the install media, you migth want to try that out on al three disks.

i did that, i've tried all the options in the installation, all return the same problem. With media check, it starts up just like a normal installation, asks for a driver disk, and then freezes.
