Redhat 9 on Toshiba 6100 and Planar Flat Panel doesn't work.

I have a Satelite Pro 6100 laptop with the Geforce 4 420. Redhat shows fine on the laptop LCD, but when I try to install redhat 9 with the monitor plugged as the main display, during the final reboot of the redhat installation, the monitor goes blank.

The monitor is a planar flatpanel with a resolution of 1280x1024 @ 72hz.

I have used both mandrake and slackware with this configuration with no problems. Why is redhat giving me issues?

Possibly the card is attemtping to use ACPI settings to control the display switch, my 5100 s507 does.

I can only make the external work on Suse and Mandrake, as they fully support acpi.
