alright.. I just installed Linneighborhood version 0.6.5 which is the newest version. Im running smbmnt version 2.2.7a

when I attempt to mount a drive I am getting this error "smbmnt must be installed suid root direct for usr mounts (502,502) smbmnt failed 1"

is this a permissions problem or is it something deeper? The login and password are correct for the domain and I checked and smbmnt is installed in /usr/bin

when I was trying to mount the share by command line this is what I was using and I still cannot connect...


839 mount -t smbfs -o username=hwhite //n2-atl-fs1/productsoftware$ /mnt/samba

Try doing a chmod a+s /usr/bin/smbmnt and see if that helps. You are going to have to be the root user to perform this. What that does is sets the suid bit so that no matter who executes the application, it runs as root. That is waht they mean by installing suid root.
