NET-SNMP vs UCD-SNMP

Hi,

I have got two different Linux systems (2.1 and 3.0) having different versions of SNMP.

On RHAS 2.1 when I do snmpd –v, I get the following output:
UCD-snmp version: 4.2.4
Email: net-snmp-coders@lists.sourceforge.net

And on RHAS 3.0 same command gives following output:
NET-SNMP version: 5.0.9
Email: net-snmp-coders@lists.sourceforge.net

So can any one tell me, what is the difference between UCD-snmp and NET-snmp? Secondly is there any difference in there configuration settings?

Regards,

Nitin

The commands for both of these packages are different.
e.g. in UCD it'll be

snmpget -m all 10.10.10.10 public sysDescr.0

whereas in net-snmp it'll be

snmpget -m all -v 1 -c public 10.10.10.10 sysDescr.0

So, at a time only one can be used on a m/c if you're putting the path of the its exe files in the environment settings
