Can't initialize ipvs: Protocol not available

i've patched a redhat 9 kernel (2.4.21-8) with ipvs 2.4.21 and ipvs netfilter module 1.0.10 and ipvsadm 1.21-10...

i successfully booted from the new (patched) kernel and i got no errors while installing ipvs. but when i try to run ipvsadm, i get the following error...

Can't initialize ipvs: Protocol not available
Are you sure that IP Virtual Server is built in the kernel or as module?

what might be the problem? any ideas?

thanx

Hi there.

I suggest you read ESR's `Smart Questions' -- especially the part about picking good titles.

I don't know ipvs very well, but I suspect a better title would have been "ipvs 2.4.21 - `Protocol not available'".

Until next time, may your titles draw appropriate amounts of attention.
