Question just some help for a newbiee


Hi first off this site looks great and i hope someone here can help here:-)
im running CentOS 4.4 on linux/redhat and basicaly i wanna use this server to run my database but im abit puzzled to what i need installed on it to do this.
if someone would be kind to tell me what i need installed on my server to run my site database would be good also if you have instruction to how o install it aswell would be fantastic

Not a lot of info to go on, masterman, but it sounds like you want to create a "lamp" (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server. Google on centos and lamp and you'll find several tutorials.

There will be lots of info here at LQ as well.

ok seems like iv got msql and apahie installed correctly atleast. sorry i didnt give enought info in first place im a needbie and just tried to explain best i could

Hi peeps ok i have run into a problem with msql.

when i try to access phpmyadmin i get this

MySQL said: Documentation
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

i searched on the net and not found the fix for this.

any ideas how i can find out my user and password? if not then how can i completly unistall msql?
