Is Redhat 9 obselete?

I want to find out whether redhat 9 is still use by many (Desktop users), or it is replaced by new releases of Redhat. How about running a RHEL for a home/desktop usage. And is there any suitable new distribution (new one) for new bies. What about Redhat desktop (for desktop/home users) ???

Yeah, Red Hat 9 is obsolete, AFAIK there aren't any updates for it anymore. If you want something like Red Hat, there's always Fedora Core.

Is FC 4 is suitable for new bies? Is it good for Desktop users? And isn't there any product of Redhat?

I would personally recommend Mandrake for the less experienced user allthough I was a newbie when I started out with Redhat/Fedora and I seem to have been able to get along! I have used Fedora Core in a Desktop environment and I would say that it does do a pretty good job of this.

I still have some RH7.3 servers running nicely.

Otherwise if you need a fresh look and feel, go with CentOS. $25 is not required, but helpfull... to support their server and such. IMHO of course.
