Is it possible to make glib work in RH9?

hello guys. I found this forum on google. This is my first post, I hope I can help and be helped.

Some problem with RH9 is making me crazy for days. It is an issue with glib. Before I coudn't install gphoto (I end up giving up) and now I can't install the lastest xmms.

I have tried so many, so many things in all of these days.. But here is my last try:

1.xmms lastest require glib 1.2.2.

2.RedHat 9 already have one newer glib, but it does not have "glib-config" and I dont know how to create it.

3.So, I had to install the old glib 1.2.2. I could not remove that newer glib, becouse a lot of programs need it.

4.I installed glib 1.2.2 in my home dir. It has "glib-config"

5.I have runed the lastest xmms' ./configure with the parameter "--with-glib-prefix=<MY HOME DIR WHERE GLIB 1.2.2 IS>"

But it STILL does not work. It said:

Code:
*** Could not run GLIB test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GLIB was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved GLIB since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the glib-config script: /home/juliano/programas/glib/glib-1.2.2/instalada/lib/bin/glib-config
configure: error: *** GLIB >= 1.2.2 not installed - please install first ***
I could't not understant the config.log file since it is huge and report many errors.

So far there are 2 programs that can't be installed: gphoto and xmms. Soon there will be more.

It's freaking me out. Like I said, I have been working on this for days. If a kind soul could tell me how to make glib work in RH9, I would be very thankful.
