Install problem RHEL4.0u5 Intel 965 CD/DVD

Hi All,

This is my first post so please be understanding!

I'm building a workstation to run Redhat Enterprise 4.0 (update 5) with an Intel 965 board and E6700 duo core processor. Before installation of the media I recieved a drive error that required me to install a driver for my cd/DVD drive. After poking around on the internet I was able to work around this by using the command
'linux all-generic-ide apci=off irqpoll selinux_compat_net=1'

Installation was successful--But, after logging in as root my cd/DVD drive is no longer active. I need my cd drive active to do additional software installs. Can anyone help me solve this problem?

Once you get booted, open up /boot/grub/grub.conf

Then, you can add "acpi=off irqpoll selinux_compat_net=1" to the end of the kernel line and when you reboot you should be able to boot using those options like you did with the installation CD.

I would recommend actually making another entry in grub.conf exactly like the default one and adding those to the end of the kernel line so if for some reason it doesn't boot using those options you can still boot without those options.
