do you still have the old kernelsource in /usr/src ?

If so you can re-compile it, and copy the kernel down to /boot and change grub / lilo to boot to the old.

uninstall using the same method that you use to uninstall any rpm.

rpm -e kernel-2.6.9-22.01

this is assuming the system reports the kernel rpm as kernel-2.6.9-22.01 exactly. alternatively, just select a different kernel from the start-up menu (be it grub or lilo). up2date doesn't upgrade kernels, it installs a new one in parallel with the old.

Choosing other Kernal at start up does not work!!

Very New, Sorry if I come across as such...
But Itoo updated my kernel and now have panics on startup and tried a total re-install and cannot get it to work.
I am only able to run a live CD of PHLAK right now.
Knoppix does not work nor Gentoo or SUSE. I was using Fedora core 4 and they are tracking this as a known bug but have not given a newbie like me any "ELEMENTARY" walk throughs on how to fix. they also seem to be thingking that this is only a fresh install problem! It's NOT! My machine ran fine for a few hours then just crashed. I am running X86 P4 with ATA.
Thanks for any help.
Phil
BTW MY WIN XP PRO is still doing OK.
