GUI problem only with RedHat any version

I recently installed RedHat 8.0, yet again, and just like the other versions and times I installed RedHat, I cannot get into a GUI state.

When I boot up, I see the loading part (all text), but when it reaches to load the GUI, my monitor goes blank. I have noticed too, that my keyboard as froze up at this point.

I tried looking for the Xconfigurator, XFree86 config files and couldn't get to them. The X system has been installed fully along with GNOME.

But yet, the installation GUI worked all fine, with the same video and monitor probe settings. (I don't think Linux likes PCI ATI Radeon 7000 cards much)

Any idears to get my gui up?

I'm not an X expert by any means, but it sure sounds like a config problem.
It's been a long time since I installed RH8 and I can't remember, but doesn't it do an X config test during the install after it probes your hardware? Did that test work?
You might try checking the hardware database on the RH site to see if your card is supported.

At least that is where I would start...

I have finally found my xf86config file but since I was running in šlinux rescueš mode, it was writing it in the wrong position. Finally got it to write to the correct location /mnt/sysimage.......

The devices were probed OK, with using the devices it has detected, video wise anyway.

The blank screen seemed to keep coming in from either incorrect resolution (too high thus unsupported) or incorrect video drivers. I have ran the xf86config file and wrote it to the appropriate location and now the GUI works fine
