Firefox's performance on RHEL 4 vs. FC3

Hi all,

Is anyone here using RHEL 4 / CentOS 4? Do you notice that slow sometimes? Let me clarify. Sometimes I find that Firefox would stop responding (the whole screen just freezes, the hourclock thing doesn't spin), but it comes back in about 5 seconds (it's on a P4 2.8GHz with 1GB RAM). This happens once in a while. If the screen doesn't free up, the Firefox window will just disappear for no reason.

I also have FC3 at home which runs on a slower machine (Intel 733MHz, 512MB RAM). Firefox never freezes like that.

I know RHEL 4 and FC3 have different kernel versions and also KDE versions... but that really causes Firefox to crash?

I wonder why this is happening.... I can't find any answer on Google. Is anybody experiencing this problem?

Thanks!

Sorry kiddo, my FireFox performs a LOT better on RHEL than on FC3. For some reason, ffox in RHEL uses about 30% less resources than it did when I ran it in Fedora.
Don't know what to tell you, check your system monitor to see exactly how many resources it's consuming, and compare (if you can, that is)

Hi all, I was digging for a bit and I realized that it's not Firefox but Klipper (KDE 3.3). Somehow, Firefox will respond very slowly sometimes when I have Klipper turned on. But on the other hand, on KDE 3.4 (FC3 is using), Firefox runs fine.
