Im getting this error while running "make modules" on RH linux 2.4.21-40 (essentially, Im trying to recompile the kernel.) I was able to get # make bzImage working before this command...

$ make modules

Also, this is what I had done before:

make mrproper
make oldconfig
make menuconfig
make dep
make
make clean

I am having the same problem.
