2 same packages; different version

I just realise I have some packages that are the same, just different versions. Is it safe to delete the older one away?

How do I see which one is being used by the system?

do you know how you came to have two versions installed at once? this should be impossible unless you deliberately force it. you should be able to remove the old one without problems. you might want to reinstall (including a --force as it will still be installed already) in order to ensure every file is there as it should be, but removing the old one shouold make any difference as it should reaslise the files are newer than the ones its expecting.
